Description
Hayden Quinn South Africa is a 13 part 24 minute series, that combines cooking, travel and environmental awareness in an entertaining road trip food journey through beautiful South Africa hosted by lovable surfer, WWF ambassador and cook: Hayden Quinn.
Hayden was a contestant on MasterChef Australia in 2011 and although he did not win, he became a firm viewer favourite. This series was developed to showcase a culinary exploration through South Africa, with Hayden discovering the country while meeting foodies and cooking with them. A unique element was that each episode also looked at sustainable farming or fishing practices, thereby tracing the journey from farm to fork.
I lead a dedicated team in producing and directing this series in an incredibly short turn-around time as well as taking it through post. Hayden and I became good friends and poured our passion into the project, ensuring that it was a visual feast.
The series premiered on SABC3 in South Africa in 2014 before being re-cut for international release. It has since been broadcast in Asia in 2017 (TLC Southeast Asia / TLC Taiwan / Qiuso China) and in Australia in 2019 (SBS Food). It is currently under distribution with GRB Entertainment.
